Welcome to the blog for Violeta Garcia-Mendoza Photography!
This is where I'll share images from my ongoing personal projects in nature and lifestyle photography.
I didn't feel super motivated to shoot this week. I had an awful migraine one day and seemed to be playing catch-up the rest of the week. But I pushed myself to shoot one roll, and these were some of the shots I got, most just after the weather had just changed from a cold rain to sun (rainbow light!). Some interior details, one of my dogs, and a few signs of Spring.
This was the fastest roll I've shot so far! Fuji Superia 800 one Saturday in the kitchen, cooking and hanging out with my older daughter. We made Spanish tortilla de patata, empanadas, and croquetas, drank some coffee, ate some pears, and colored.
This week's favorites are a bit of a strange mix of things. I took a couple attempts (as a passenger in a moving car) at night photography, shot in the yard on an icy morning, shot some falling snow another afternoon, and did some food photography in the kitchen.
This week's favorites were taken with my new Canon 50 1.2L lens...which is just...magic! I debated for a while before getting a gently used copy, as I've had both the Canon 50 1.4 and the Sigma 50 Art before, and sold them both. But I'm so happy I gave the 50L a chance. It has beautiful color and contrast, it's sharp, and has dreamy compression and bokeh. It might become a new favorite!
These photos were taken just around the house and garden. I got some new houseplants I'm trying to keep alive, and my older daughter turned 10. It was a beautiful week!
Week 4's favorites were shot on Ilford HP5 black and white film and Fuji Superia 800, around the house and at Phipp's Conservatory, for their Bonsai show. So half are stark winter, and half are GREEN! <3
